I am a mom of five and my kids beg me NOT to cook. My husband does 95% of all our meals because he can cook.

My New Year Wish is to try a new meal once a week. Something my husband hasn't made so the kids can't compare. This would be the perfect start.

I can never have too many cookbooks!

Hey Nienie,

I started reading your posts several months ago when I heard about you through a friend. I don't have lots of time to get on the computer but when I do I always stop by your blogs for a few minutes and I find them truly inspirational! I work for the American Red Cross directly with the military. I live and work on military bases around the world. I'm currently stationed at Camp Casey Korea very near the North Korean border. I don't really want to beg for your cookbook but I think it would possibly make our little Christmas dinner that much better. :)

Thanks again for your posts and for letting all of us be a part of your world.

I'm a rookie at cooking! This could help me boost my skills!

I just want to thank you for inspiring me to be a better person. I can't wait to have children one day and i hope I have that same zest for motherhood that you do!

Margaret said...

I'm so glad to be able to comment. You are an inspiration to us all. As the mom of three lively boys ages 7 and under, your blog has given me a boost and the perspective I've needed to keep trying each day. You are beautiful, inside and outside. I'd love the book. It looks like a fun one. Please could you send it to a frazzled stay at home mom who needs a little boost at mealtime to get excited about cooking again? :)

Oh how I'd love a new cookbook. There is nothing like a beautiful new cookbook to re-jumpstart more homemade dinners. And with our holiday dinner just being my husband, 7 month old, and myself, a new book may be just the motivation I need to actually cook a holiday dinner.

Hi Steph,

Don't include me in the give-away. I just wanted to say I'm glad that you have one more thing to help you be happy in the kitchen. I think a lot about how happy you were making others happy with your food creations in NJ. . . and how stylish that kitchen was.

Hugs to you & the family,
Starr

Ok, I really need (and want) this cookbook! PLEASE...when my husband & I got married 10 years ago I even wrote in our vows that I would cook once a week! Haven't kept that part of my vows-mainly because I haven't found a cookbook that stirs my interrest. You could be a saint and help be live up to my vows! Actually I think you are a saint already for the positive attitude you have had throughout this trial (I will still feel this way even if I don't get the cookbook-and by the way I have kept all my other vows!) Not only am I begging you, but my husband is also.

Funny girl, of course I'd like that cookbook a lot. What I'd like even more is a NieNie cookbook. You inspired me to purchase a ton of Anthropologie's colorful bowls --which I've dubbed "nienie bowls". I love your colorful and scrumptious looking photographs on Cuisine Nie. So, think about publishing your own with your own photographs. May God continue to bless your family and provide you with a beautiful, bountiful table.

Bia said...

Stephanie,

I have been "visiting" you from even before your accident, and you are just an amazing person.

The first thing that drew me to your blog was your photos...they were full of color...as if your life was a kaleidoscope of love and family, all wrapped up in a rainbow of colors.

Blessings.

Hi Nie,
I've been a big fan of yours since watching you on Opera. You are such an inspiration. I made a bold move this year and quit my job to be a stay-at-home mom for my beautiful daugther. Making this decision wasn't hard because my heart was with being at home with her but it did result in a big financial sacrifice. So enough said, I would really like this cookbook because I'm just learning how to cook. Yes, it's crazy but I haven't had the time before to prepare a lot of meals so this would give me some recipes and advice on what I can fix for my ever hungry husband and one year old daughter. I have a cookbook my mother lent me but I just really need a good cookbook. So I saw that you were giving one away so I thought I would beg along with the others.

(Channeling my twelve year old...) "Please can I have that cookbook? I really need it. I mean I really, *really* need it. (Flutters the Bambi eyes) If you give me that cookbook I will make something really delicious for you. I will make you breakfast in bed. I will be nice to you *forever* ~ or at least for the rest of the day."

A bit more seriously, my twelve year-old son is becoming an amazing cook - homemade blintzes, omelettes, yummy soup - and this would be a great gift to keep him inspired and learning.

And even more seriously, Nie, thank you for the chance to express my (our) gratefulness to you publicly. You and your family were one of my "things I am thankful for" at this year's Thanksgiving table, and I can't really begin to tell you how much it means to me to have come to know you and Courtney and your families and the incredible love, grace, joy, courage, determination, and silly-pants humor with which you face each day. *SO glad* you are here.
Blessings to you and your wonderful family.

I try to appreciate the little things in life more and pay more attention to what my kids are saying. I am BEGGINGGGGGGG you for this book! PLEASEEEEE. Here's the deal, I am not a good cook. I love to sew, craft, clean, paint, do handy-work, be a mommy to 4, but I can't cook a decent dinner. It is a running joke with my family. I laugh with them, but to be honest, I wish I could pull of a decent meal to show them all! I just told myself, (after I saw the wonderful meal my sister-in-law made at Thanksgiving) that come January, I was going to start cooking, even if I had to take classes. I know I can do it....so, that being said, I would love to have this cookbook! If I am the lucky chosen one, this would be my first "real" cookbook. Sure I have a few Martha Stewart baking ones, and even a few cookbooks for kids, ok, I admit, I only have 4 cookbooks to my name (2 Martha Stewart for baking and 2 kids). So I would treasure this book and it would inspire me. My family would, I am very sure, be eternally grateful! (oh, and did I mention I am having my family here for Christmas???). Thanks for reading and thanks for the opportunity! I love reading your blog!

Best wishes to you! Love, Elizabeth Beesley :)

Heidi G said...

okay, I am in my begging stance--down on one knee, arms crossed across my chest, bottom lip pouched just slightly, eyelids lowered, head slightly bowed, words of "please pick me" forming on my lips in a plea of longing, not much louder than a whisper for extra emphasis of how much I would love this book. How can you turn such a face down, when I've gone through all that humble effort? Do I need to fall prostate for the final effect or is that overkill? You decide!!! Did I happen to mention how cute your children are? How much I love your posts, feel like I know your family, have laughed and cried over your strength and wit? Well, now you know.

How in the heck do I stand out @ #154? Well,

1.I love love love cooking.
2. Shameless plug for my recipe blog: wowthatsyummy.blogspot.com
3. I never win anything
4. My mother in law wins everything and then calls me to tell (rub it in my face) about it.

That's all I have! Hugs!

Begging, begging, begging, begging, and begging again. I soooo would love to have this beautiful book all to myself, cooking for my family, and possibly cooking for you the next time you are in the Windy City of Chicago. I promise to make it a spectacular day filled with family and love, oh, and amazing food.

I read cookbooks for fun. I cook out of necessity - mostly. Except for two occasions. One is the recipe calls for more than 1/2 cup of sugar. Desserts/Baking is a serious form of entertainment and joy for me (and for my family and neighbors!) The second is for the gathering of friends. I love to cook for my friends (and family) for those special occasions. This cookbook is perfectly titled!

I would love to cook for a gathering that included you, Stephanie as I have come to love you as a friend over the years of reading your blog. You are truly an inspiration as a mother, a wife and more recently a survivor. Thank you for your wonderful example of what a true daughter of God is.

As a college student, I have struggled to find a cookbook that will provide healthy and interesting recipes for my roommates and myself that are not on repeat every week. This book would be such a great resource!

Stephanie

You can't see me...but here I am...in my cubicle...in Houston, Texas....on my knees. On.My.Knees. I beg. I plead. Please oh please oh please oh please...send me this pretty cookbook. Let me display it with pride ("Wanna see what THE NieNie sent me?!")...let me cook from it's recipes with trepidation ("Ooooh, what if Stephanie won't like the way I kneaded that bread!")...let me tell the world of your kindness and thoughtfulness and giving spirit ("Why yes, she IS the kindest person I know!").

Please.

That is all.

Oh I SO need inspiration since family Christmas is at our house again this year. Folks are getting tired of the same old potatoes and ham (cooked by a vegetarian so you can only imagine).

Pretty pretty please? May I have it? I love reading cookbooks, especially when there are gorgeous pictures of the dishes. It makes me feel like I'm ordering off a menu with the bonus that I am the one cooking the meal.

Dear Nie,
I have been a big fan of yours for quite some time. (My husband might try to say he's a bigger fan :} ) I got married 8 months ago and before that I have maybe cooked 5 meals, and just repeated all of them. And as of late I have found a LOVE and PASSION for cooking. I am always looking for new recipe's in magazines and going to the cookbook isle at stores (TJ Max and Ross are my current favorite places for such great finds) I would ever so LOVE having this cookbook for 2 reasons:
#1: I would help me excel with my latest passion.
#2: Knowing that I got the cookbook from you, and that you use it as well, would be evr so special and 10x cooler than any other cookbook I have!

Love,
Em
